The San Jose Sharks, who drafted Müller in 2013, traded the young defenseman in mid-June to the Devils. The 22-year-old is one of three restricted free agents New Jersey signed today to a new contract, Joseph Blandisi and Scott Wedgewood being the other two.

Müller has played in 54 NHL games so far in his career, putting up two goals and four assists. Mostly, he suited up for their AHL team, the San Jose Barracuda, though. In 143 games, he recorded four goals and 35 assists.
