Martin Filander's name already came up in a shortlist provided by the Solothurner Zeitung a bit over a week ago. Other names mentioned were Tomas Mitell, Jukka Jalonen, Cam Abbott, and Tom Pokel.
As Blick reported earlier today, EHC Biel and Martin Filander, who coached IK Oskarshamn this season, were in advanced negotiations. Supposedly, only a few details were left to be discussed. According to the same source, keeping Martin Steinegger in a double role would have also been an option, if the deal with Filander fell through.
Later in the evening, they reported that Swedish sources had confirmed to them that Filander would indeed be the new head coach of Biel. The club has yet to confirm the report.
