After numerous medical examinations, the 28-year-old forward is forced to undergo a difficult adductor surgery (torn right adductor), which will keep him away from the ice rink until the end of the ongoing season.

Schmidt, who did not play in a single game this term, already underwent a hernia operation this summer but the doctors touched a ligament during the procedure which in turn led pain in his adductors.

The Swiss-German had been almost fully practicing a couple of weeks ago but then, in a stroke of bad luck, stepped on a stick and has been once again dealing with adductor problems since.

In addition, according to Raffi Kouyoumdjian from Le Quotidien Jurassien, the Ajoulots' goaltender Dominic Nyffeler will be sidelined for about one week due to an ankle injury.
