As already anticipated yesterday by Watson's Klaus Zaugg, the Swiss Ice Hockey Federation decided to renew the contracts of Patrick Fischer for four years. Fischer's previous contract was set to expire in 2020 after the World Championship in Zürich and Lausanne.

Patrick Fischer is enthusiastic about the extension: "It fills me with pride to be able to fill the position of Swiss national coach. It is my goal and the goal of the entire Swiss national team to make our country proud and enthusiastic this coming spring."

«Patrick Fischer is the ideal person for the position as head coach of the Swiss national team»

Lars Weibel, Director of National Teams, is satisfied too with the early extension: "I am very pleased that Patrick Fischer is committed to our national teams and the common philosophy in the longer term and that we can thus maintain continuity in the coaching staff".

Michael Rindlisbacher, Chairman of the Board, is also convinced of the decision: "Patrick Fischer stands 100 percent behind our strategy and the path we are taking. And he embodies our values - which is why he is the ideal person for the position as head coach of the Swiss national team."
