Bärtschi's two-year, 3.7 million dollar contract with Vancouver has expired and he now is a restricted free agent (RFA). To retain negotiation rights, the Canucks have made him a qualifying offer.

The 25-year-old forward just finished his third full season with the Canadian team, suiting up 53 times and recording 14 goals and 15 assists. He missed stretches of the season due to injury. He has been part of the Canucks' organization since 2015. Originally, he was drafted by the Calgary Flames in 2011 (13th overall).
