The 28-year-old Swede told Zentralplus that he would like to stay in Zug. And the rumor about a return to Frölunda? "Nonsense!"

About a week ago various reports surfaced that Klingberg told a Swedish newspaper that he would like to return to his former team Frölunda. Now, the Swedish forward denies this rumor: "That is complete nonsense," he says to Zentralplus.

«Somebody must have translated that completely wrong»

"When asked If I could imagine playing for Frölunda again, I said yes. But with an important restriction: not in the next few years," he explains to the same source. "Somebody must have translated that completely wrong from Swedish."

Although EV Zug's team manager Reto Kläy first wants to see which of his five import players are actually able to make a difference in the playoffs, Klingberg would definitely like to stay in Zug beyond the current season: "My goal is to impose myself for a new contract."

Disclaimer

swisshockeynews.ch did deliberately not report on a possible return of Carl Klingberg to Frölunda last week. After consultation of the original article on gp.se, we decided that such a report would be misleading.
