The 32-year-old defenseman had torn the cruciate ligament in his right knee in the Playoff Final against SC Bern in 2016. He then underwent surgery but complications arose and he had to be operated on once again in September 2016.

The subsequent recovery period went on for longer than anticipated and he had not been able to play in a single game during the 2016-17 season. Now, however, he feels "fine" and is able to fully practice again.
