The deal would only be made if Timrå stays in the SHL. After the regular season, they were the last placed team. They will now have to face the winner of Sweden's second-tier league (HockeyAllsvenskan) and win the series in order to remain in the SHL.

According to the same source, the SHL team and Fransson had supposedly already been close to an agreement before the transfer deadline in February. The defender would have joined the team effective immediately, but Genève-Servette HC refused to let him out of his deal.

Fransson has not signed the deal yet, as team manager Kent Norberg tells the newspaper. Otherwise, he would have been "very happy to confirm it. Fransson is currently in his fourth season with GSHC. In 30 regular season games, he put up six goals and twelve assists.
