As the Blick reports, the mystery about the new Swiss national coach is solved: The 57-year-old Canadian Glen Hanlon, who is currently coaching the national team of Belarus at the World Championship in Minsk, will succeed Sean Simpson.
The former goaltender started his coaching career in 1995 as assistant coach of the Vancouver Canucks. On the international level he acted as head coach of the Belarusian national team (2004-06, 2008-09 and 2013-14) and of the Slovakian national team (2009-11).
Hanlon's assistant coach will be John Fust. Thanks to Fust's profound knowledge of Swiss hockey, he is the ideal addition to Hanlon, who lacks any connection to Switzerland so far. The 46-year-old Canadian has already terminated his contract with Lausanne HC, where he assisted head coach Heinz Ehlers during the past season and helped Lausanne to reach the Playoffs.
