If Connor Hughes will actually get a chance to suit up for the Canadians is not yet sure. At first, he was just supposed to step in until the missing equipment arrives. According to Blick's information, however, Hughes will be on Team Canada's game sheet against Sparta Prague tonight.
Lars Weibel, Director of National Teams, confirms that Hughes will help out at Team Canada, and he also states: "Connor will continue to play for the Swiss national team."
As the Spengler Cup is not an official IIHF tournament, Hughes would be allowed to play for Canada, although he recently suited up for the Swiss national team at the "Swiss Ice Hockey Games" in Fribourg.
