The 18-year-old defenseman signed his first professional contract only eleven days ago, agreeing to a one-year deal (including an option for an additional season) with the ZSC Lions. He will join the Blue Jackets' development camp as of tomorrow. He will, however, definitely suit up for the Lions next season.
Berni made his National League debut last season, playing eight regular season games and 15 playoff games with the Lions. He averaged 10:52 minutes of ice time during the Lions' Championship run, sixth among the Lions' defence. He also was part of Switzerland's U20 team for the World Juniors in Buffalo, New York.
