National League

Interviewed by 24 heures, Lausanne HC's Director of Hockey Operations, Petr Svoboda explains that they are not pursuing Malgin anymore.

"We no longer wish to bet on an element that would come and take the place of another with the risk that he would leave us during the championship" reveals Petr Svoboda when asked about their top-scorer of the past season.

According to the Czech, Denis Malgin still hopes to get a chance in the NHL and for that reason, they do not want to speculate on how long Malgin is willing to wait for an NHL contract. Nonetheless, for the 24-year-old a return to the National League is not excluded.

As for Christoph Bertschy, whose contract is expiring at the end of the 2021-22 season, the situation seems to be more favorable, although the competition is not missing. Not surprisingly, given the fact that Bertschy scored 24 goals last season, Svoboda would like to keep the 27-year-old around.

Talks for an extension have indeed already begun but Bertschy does not want to rush the decision: "I love this city, this club, and these fans. But at the same time, I have offers from several National League teams. It's a big decision for me. This will probably be the most important contract of my career, for the long term."
