As a reinforcement for the team, HC Fribourg-Gottéron has signed the Finnish international to a one-month contract. In the last two seasons, Wirtanen played for Donbass Donetsk in the Kontinental Hockey League and scored 34 points (12 goals, 22 assists) in 115 games.
