With the defenseman's contract running out in summer, there is a chance he might be headed to another club.

A member of the ZSC Lions since 2005 (with a two-year break from 2009 to 2011), Blindenbacher will see his most recent contract extension from 2016 run out at the end of this season.

There have not yet been any talks about another prolongation, but 36-year-old is confident. "I have noticed that I still can keep up and play an important role in this team", he says to the Neue Zürcher Zeitung. "But I am open to everything. I know there is interest from some other clubs. I love the ZSC but at the end of the day, it is business."

Lions' team manager Sven Leuenberger mentions that he has to talk to a player first before making a public statement.

In total, five of Zurich's defenseman will see their contract running out at the end of this season. While it is probable that some of them may leave (Tim Berni, Dave Sutter), others, as Phil Baltisberger, are likely to stick around.
