In order to alleviate their injury-related absences, the Seelanders did consider another option: Former Lakers-forward Steve Mason.

Steve Mason will have to look for another employer

The Bieler Tagblatt reported this morning that the 31-year-old was in practice with EHC Biel. However, according to information obtained by Le Matin, the Seelanders have decided not to further pursue this option. Arnaud Montandon, on the other hand, has still a chance to help them to temporarily overcome the absences of their injured players. He will still be part of the team next week. They have chosen not to activate his license this weekend, though.

In respect to injuries, there is some good and some bad news for Biel: While Michael Hügli has taken up practice again, although without any physical contact, also Mike Künzle is doubtful for tonight's season opener. The forward has suffered a bruise on his upper body in the Cup game against Huttwil.
