The ZSC Lions have decided to provide Joni Ortio with the opportunity to practice with the team as their third netminder. He will join the team on Wednesday and replace Justin Pogge who is heading to North America.

Joni Ortio was drafted by the Calgary Flames in 2009. From 2013 to 2016, he suited up for a few NHL games for the Flames. He then returned to Europe to play for Skellefteå AIK for two seasons. Last year, he posted a .922 save percentage in 52 games for Vityaz Podolsk (KHL).
