"The coaching position is now filled," Gianola says to the Blick and confirms a report by the Tages-Anzeiger that said that the 50-year-old Latvian Harijs Vitolins is going to be HCD's new bench boss. "We wanted a coach who already has experience at the club level and who can help us immediately," he explains. Vitolins has reportedly signed a contract until the end of the season.

Asked if they had a look at possible Swiss solutions to fill Arno Del Curto's shoes, Gianola says that there indeed are interesting Swiss coaches, "but we had to ask ourselves whether now is the right time for such a solution." Especially Reto von Arx might be an option for the future: "Just like others, he is part of our history, he should also be part of our future. This may be the case very soon."

With their new head coach in place, Davos is now looking at possible candidates for the team manager position. One of these candidates is former HCD defenseman and EHC Kloten team manager Pascal Müller, Gianola confirms to the Blick: "Yes, we will talk to him. In principle, we want to fill these positions with HCD-DNA whenever possible."
