Swiss National Team

Big bang! Glen Hanlon's time as head coach of the Swiss national team is over. Hanlon and the SIHF have mutually agreed to terminate the Canadian's contract, which would have still been valid until May next year.

The SIHF names family reasons, as well as different perceptions about a successful and long-term collaboration, which have finally led to the mutual dissolution of contract.

Hanlon originally took over from Sean Simpson in May, 2014. At this year's IIHF World Championship in Prague, the 58-year-old was able to lead the Swiss team into the Quarterfinals, where they were defeated by the USA with 3-1.

Felix Hollenstein, former head coach of the Kloten Flyers, will step in ad-interim and make his debut behind the boards of the Swiss national team already at the upcoming Deutschland Cup in Augsburg from November 3-8. (rlu)
