RUMOR - EHC Biel is supposedly working to sign Jérôme Samson, who played for Team Canada at the Spengler Cup in December, for the rest of the season, as Blick.ch reports.

The 27-year-old forward last played for the Tampa Bay Lightning's AHL affiliate Syracuse Crunch and was the teammate of Tanner Richard and Joël Vermin. He spent most of his career in the AHL but has at least some NHL experience, playing 46 games (nine points) for the Carolina Hurricanes from 2009 to 2012.

However, yesterday the Lightning put the Canadian on waivers - at the request of Samson, who wants to play in Europe, as syracuse.com reports. Assistant general manager Julien BriseBois confirmed that his contract will be terminated, if he clears waivers.

Furthermore, syracuse.com has already confirmed with the player that he will indeed play in Switzerland, but they were not able to get the name of the team he will suit up for. Samson has played 28 games for the Crunch this season, scoring 8 points (one goal, seven assists). He would be the Seelanders fifth import-player.
