NLB - EHC Arosa will not be playing in the National League B as of next season. The license commission of the league has officially turned down the team's application for the upcoming season, reports Die Südostschweiz.

The management has received an email by director Ueli Schwarz with the league's decision this morning. The commission lists as reasons for the refusal amongst others the lack of a junior movement, the delayed payments of the development compensations for the past season as well as the considerably higher budget for next year.

While the dream of the NLB is over for now, EHC Arosa might still get the opportunity to stay in the First League despite their relegation, as a request by the Regio League has been made, informs Arosa-president Ludwig Waidacher. (lcu)

UPDATE The league confirms that EHC Arosa's application has been turned down and that EHC Winterthur has received the green light to play next season in the NLB as the only team of the initial four applicants (Sion, Herisau have already pulled out earlier). The acceptance of Winterthur's application is subject to certain conditions. The NLB will therefore have ten teams for the 2015-16 season. - 16 April 2015, 11:23 AM
