Nelson Chiquet received the game misconduct penalty as well as a fine of CHF 400 for a violation of IIHF rule 122 (charging). The incident occurred in the 26th minute of play in the game against HC Thurgau on December 2. He also received a game misconduct penalty for a violation of IIHF rule 141 (fighting).
📚NEW in 20/21:
🔹The PSO can as of this season also request a subsequent game misconduct penalty in their recommendation to the Single Judge.
🔹Until now, it was not possible to issue a game misconduct not sanctioned on the ice in proceedings afterwards (only suspensions).— NL Ice Data - Disciplinary (@NLIceDecisions) September 25, 2020
The second violation involved HC Thurgau's Jan Mosimann, who also was issued a game misconduct penalty for the same incident. Mosimann was not fined for the incident.
In other disciplinary news, Genève-Servette HC's Linus Omark was less than happy with the fine for embellishment that was imposed on him by the single judge and took to Twitter: "Ok! When you guys don’t want to give me an explanation face to face or on the phone I’ll have to try to get the explanation on Twitter!? Next time I’ll let him cross check [sic!] me in the head instead. That sound like a good plan for u guys? I will appeal."
Omark then received an answer from the National & Swiss League's Twitter account, stating that due to the appeal period not yet being over, they were legally not allowed to provide him with further information. Affaire à suivre, as the Romands say.
