Latvia and Belarus are supposed to host next year's World Championship together. However, Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins has other ideas, as relayed by Russian news agency RIA Novosti: "At the moment, it is difficult to imagine that after the latest events in Belarus we can jointly hold the tournament."

Karins spoke out after a government meeting today. As his further comments show (relayed by Keystone-SDA), the organizers will ask the IIHF to reconsider their choice of (co-)host country. Also, if the IIHF will refuse and the situation in Belarus remains the same, Latvia might consider to withdraw from hosting the World Championship all together.
