What does the future for Akira Schmid hold?

Schmid only played one game for the Canes, posting a .741 save percentage. He did not receive a second chance from the WHL team, who now decided to go with their other two import prospects.
The 18-year-old goaltender was placed on waivers by the team on October 1. Schmid is a product of the SCL Tigers' organization and got to make his National League debut in the placement round last season.
