The assistant coach will return to Sweden due to familiar reasons despite a contract in Zug that is still valid until 2020.

Stefan Hedlund leaves Zug.

The decision, which is surprising for both sides, is exclusively for family reasons. "I would have liked to stay with EV Zug. Everything was right for me here, but not for my family. As a responsible father, I had to make this decision. I am forever grateful to EV Zug for what it has given me", the 44-year-old Swede regrets the premature departure.

The Bulls will not put any obstacles in Stefan Hedlund's way, as team manager Reto Kläy states: "We respect his private situation and after detailed discussions we came to the conclusion that this solution is the best one."

Stefan Hedlund came to Zug from Lulea in 2017 and took over the farm team EVZ Academy as head coach. Last season he was appointed assistant coach of the National League team. After his return he will take over a coaching position in Sweden again, possibly with Skellefteå AIK, as hockeysverige.se reported three days ago.
