Medical Report

mt_ignoreAs the Berner Zeitung reports, Joël Vermin, who suffered a hand injury in his sixth NHL game with the Tampa Bay Lightning this week, had to undergo surgery and is expected to be out for five to six weeks.

Vermin dislocated a joint in his finger after blocking a shot in his first shift of the game and since some of the bone also splintered, surgery was necessary.

The 23-year-old has so far appeared in six career NHL games for the Lightning and was able to register one assist in his second appearance. (lcu)

UPDATE As the Tampa Bay Lightning announces on Twitter, Joël Vermin's surgery was indeed successful. However, Vermin is expected to be out longer than initially reported and will be sidelined for approximately six to eight weeks. (bsc)- 17 December 2015, 9:03 PM
