Swiss Women's National Team

After three years, the 39-year-old has decided to leave Swiss Ice Hockey. If there will be a new sports director for the women's teams is not clear.

As Lars Weibel, Director of National Teams at Swiss Ice Hockey, tells Klaus Zaugg (Aargauer Zeitung), the reason for the separation was that they had different ideas about Daniela Diaz' job at the federation. If her position will be filled again has not yet been decided.

Also it is not yet clear if Colin Muller is going to stay on as head coach of the women's national team after the Olympic Games in Beijing. He fears that two or three experienced players might stop. "I don't know If I will continue then," he says to the same source.

It seems as if both Muller and Diaz are frustrated that women's hockey is not promoted enough in Switzerland and within the federation. "It would be a huge step forward if every NL club was obliged to run a women's department," Muller says.
