The credit of almost 31 million Swiss francs for the renovation has been the most expensive proposition that has ever been put to a vote in the city of Kloten, according to the Zürcher Unterländer.

The plan is to build a wooden roof over the second rink just outside EHC Kloten's arena, which will also serve as a terrace. Moreover, the project includes an expansion of the dressing rooms and the sanitary facilities in the arena itself.

Kloten's electorate voted clearly in favour of the project: 2,349 people agreed, only 955 voted against it. According to the city's president René Huber the result can be seen as an actual commitment to ice sports, especially ice hockey.
