With eight points in his first three games with HV71 in the Swedish top league, Kevin Fiala experienced a stunning rise from HV71's youth team to the signing of his first pro-contract with the same team only a couple of days ago.

As a consequence, Fiala has been elected as one of four nominees for Sweden's "Rookie of the Year". The jury, which consists of all the Captains of the twelve SHL-teams and Håkan Andersson from "Svenska Spel", explains Fiala's nomination wih him being "a brilliant offensive player with a fine puckhandling and explosive skating".

Other nominees for this award are the three 19-year-old forwards Alexander Wennberg and Andreas Johnson (both Frölunda) as well as Gustav Possler (Modo).
