Dean Kukan has been sent down to the AHL by the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday. Since then, his former club Luleå tried to see if he can return to Sweden, as he has one year left on his contract with them.

As the Swiss international now tells the Columbus Dispatch he will definitely stay in North America and play for the Lake Erie Monsters: "[...] A couple of weeks ago, it started with the speculation. I was kind of worried, but my North American agent called the NHL Players’ Association. Now everything is fixed. I will stay here.”

Furthermore, assistant GM Bill Zito confirms Dean Kukan's contract (two-way, two-years) "does not read that way" and that he will start the season with Lake Erie. In 61 games for Luleå, he scored three goals and twelve assists last season. (mso)
