After HC Fribourg-Gottéron's Martin Réway announced his departure from Fribourg on his Instagram account a few days ago, he now says that he was misunderstood: "I never said that I won't renew the contract with them."

In an interview with the Slovakian website sport.sk, Martin Réway says that he does not know yet what he will do next season and with that he also keeps the option open to extend his contract in Fribourg: "I didn't say my time in Fribourg is over, I just said that the season is over, it was misinterpreted," the 21-year-old says.

Right now, he does not exclude anything. Also a departure to North America is an option, but that "is more a question for them [the Montréal Canadiens]," he says and adds: "If I have to stay in Europe, then only in the KHL or in Switzerland." As he also says, he wants to decide after the World Championship at the latest. (tme)

MISINTERPRETED OR NOT? Meanwhile, Martin Réway has deleted the Instagram post in question, but we still have it. Decide for yourself: "Great season behind me , we could go much farder but sometimes it happens , the boys worked so hard so we should have no regrets at all , will miss every single guy or coach in dressing room , wish all the best to Gotteron hopefuelly next year you make it , thanks for the chance to play , it was a pleasure also thanks to the fans who travel and support us in not such a good times they deserve respect from all of us ! #thankyou #fans #gotteron"
