The 34-year-old defenseman has reportedly signed a two-year contract with the Flyers with the option of adding another year to the deal. The Swiss international had been told earlier this season that he was no longer wanted in Bern. However, after a change in management, contract negotiations re-started, but apparently it had been too little too late.
Helbling has scored three goals and 15 assits in 28 games for the Bears this season. He joined them this summer from HC Fribourg-Gottéron. His deal with the Flyers would last until the end of the 2017-18 season. (mso)
