Kreis was not only an option as Doug Shedden's successor in Zug, but also an interesting candidate to take over the Swiss national team after the World Championship in Minsk.
The 55-year-old Canadian-German has already considerable experience in the National League A. With both HC Lugano (2006) and the ZSC Lions (2008) he won the Swiss Championship title.
Most recently he coached the Adler Mannheim in the DEL but has been fired during his fourth season as their head coach.
