Marc Furrer, president of the SIHF, confirmed right away: "Sean Simpson has decided against signing a new contract with the national team". Simpson, however, will fulfil his contract and coach the team at the World Championships in Minsk in May. "Some may say that this is not an optimal situation but I definitely want to fulfil my contract", Simspon said.

"I think my era will leave the Swiss national team in a good position", Simpson continued. "I wanted to play aggressive and after four years, I much rather have a silver medal than just saying that we've reached the minimum goal every single time".

Thus, Simpson will return to working for a club team in the future. Which team it will be, he won't tell yet: "Out of respect for this club I won't speak about this until the season is over", Simpson commented. "This could take between six weeks and three months". Thus, Simpson might join a European club team as well as an NHL organization.

Concerning Sean Simpson's successor, president Marc Furrer informed at the press conference that the public won't hear anything about this topic during the next weeks and for quite some time. The SIHF will analyze the situation and take their time in finding a new national coach.
