On Saturday, the league announced their decision to suspend Jonathan Mercier for violating IIHF rule 116, abuse of officials. The defenseman's club, Genève-Servette, has appealed this sentence, as the Tribune de Genève writes. They argue that, considering the circumstances of the situation, a seven-game suspension would be too harsh of a punishment and hope to reduce that number.
