There will be a vote about whether to hold the top-level Women's World Championship every year and not skip them in Olympic years at the IIHF Semi-Annual Congress in September.

The proposal comes from the IIHF Women’s Committee and the IIHF Competition & Coordination Committee and has been approved by the IIHF Council. It might come into fruition as of next year already.

In Olympic years, the Women's Worlds would likely be played in August and kick off a new Olympic cycle for the involved national women’s team programs.
