Women's Hockey

Swiss netminder Roxanne Kis puts an end to her hockey career after a stint with the York Lions at York University in Toronto.

Kis went to Canada last year to study economics at the University and play for the local hockey team. Before that, the 21-year-old played for the SC Weinfelden Ladies and SC Reinach in the SWHL A for three seasons.

However, her time in Canada did not go as planned. The Lions went into the season with three goalkeepers and the intention was to have the best one playing. But despite good performances, Kis apparently did not play a big role in the coach's plan. After a while, she realized that returning to Switzerland would probably be the best solution for her since there is no money in women's hockey and thus she needed to focus on her education. She does not want to completely abandon hockey though and would like to become a goalie coach.
