ExtraligaThe recipient of the award for the Best Hockey Player of the Season in the Tipsport Extraliga is decided by the players themselves. Matěj Stránský received the most votes this season. Given that he recorded 33 goals and 19 assists in 50 regular-season games, he also won the trophy for Best Forward.
In an interview about his record season with iSport.cz, he also talked about his decision to sign with HC Davos. The National League team already would have liked him to join them for the playoffs, but he was determined to finish out the season with HC Oceláři Třinec.
HC Davos kept in touch with him and he eventually decided to try his luck in Switzerland: "My wife and I told ourselves that if I didn't go now, I would never go. We were there for the Spengler Cup with Třinec, I really liked the environment and as I said, I would like to try something new."
