President of the Regio League Marc-Anthony Anner wants the tournament to continue, albeit in a different format.

Regio League teams not happy with SIHC decision

"The communication of the SIHF is unfortunate to say the least. The Swiss Cup will not disappear in 2021," Anner tells Arcinfo. "We are working on a new concept with a formula that includes clubs from the MySports League to the fourth league." He adds that they would be happy to let the Swiss League join the tournament as well.

Olivier Calame, president of HC La Chaux-de-Fonds, is also less than pleased with, as he says, the decision of the National League teams in regard to the SIHC. He does also not exclude the possibility that they might join such a format as presented by Anner.

Calame also reveals that they will try to find ways to better defend their interests: "Together with the other Swiss League clubs, without the farm teams (GCK Lions, EVZ Academy, and the HCB Ticino Rockets) affiliated to National League clubs, we're trying to rethink our model." They thus might go in a similar direction than the National League teams.
