Due to a not better-specified injury, the goaltender has not received permission from the New Jersey Devils to participate in the IIHF Worlds.

Following the update on Akira Schmid's situation, Switzerland's head coach Patrick Fischer has decided to register EHC Biel's Joren van Pottelberghe as the team's third goaltender. The Swiss roster now comprises three goaltenders, seven defenders, and 13 forwards, meaning that only two spots are still available.

With the expected arrival of Nico Hischier and Jonas Siegenthaler, the roster would be complete, therefore Tim Berni and Damien Riat would not get to play in the tournament. However, as the rules allow, Patrick Fischer has selected Lausanne HC's Damien Riat as a replacement for the injured Calvin Thürkauf.
