Originally, Mark Streit and Mathias Seger were supposed to be inducted into the IIHF Hall of Fame during the home World Championship in 2020. As the Worlds never took place due to the pandemic, the ceremony, too, was delayed.
Mathias Seger played 19 seasons for the ZSC Lions before he retired at the end of the 2017-18 season. He took part in four Olympic Games and 16 World Championships with the Swiss national team.
Mark Streit, who retired in 2018, was the first Swiss field player to really establish himself in the NHL. He also captained the Swiss national team on many occasions, playing in 13 World Championships with them and four Olympic Games.
