An own goal by Calvin Thürkauf (credited to Ben Meyers) opened the score in the game between Switzerland and Team USA. Shortly thereafter, the Americans made it 2-0 with a goal from Adam Gaudette.
The Swiss tried their best to come back into the game for the rest of the game, but they were unable to convert their chances. Six minutes before the end of the game, the Americans put the final nail in the coffin: Ben Meyers scored his second goal of the night, making it 3-0.
The journey of the Swiss national team, who had won all seven games of the preliminary round, thus ends with the quarterfinal. Nico Hischier, Denis Malgin, and Dean Kukan were named the Swiss' best players of the tournament.
