"My index finger exploded and I had to get surgery the day after," Haas tells the Bieler Tagblatt, looking back at his injury in Game 5 of the quarterfinal series against Genève-Servette HC, when he got hit by a puck. "A plate and twelve screws are now in me. Normally it takes six weeks, but the doctors gave me the green light after three and a half weeks."

The 27-year-old is optimistic that he will be ready for the World Championship in Slovakia: "During the last weeks I was in constant contact with coach Patrick Fischer," he says to the same source. "It looks as if I could take part in the World Cup."

If Gaëtan Haas will be back with SC Bern next season or if he will try to take the leap to the NHL is not yet clear: "We will what the next days and weeks will bring," he says. If it does not work out with the NHL, his goal is clear: "Then I want to defend the title with Bern."
