The US national team will not be able to count on Justin Abdelkader for the remainder of the 2021 IIHF World Championship. He sustained an injury during the second period of yesterday's matchup versus Germany. For their last game of the Preliminary Round, the US will face Italy later today.

Another one of EV Zug's imports, Carl Klingberg, has also had to toss the towel for the remainder of the tournament. He suffered a lower-body injury during Sweden's second game. Fellow Bull-forward Dario Simion (Switzerland) is also sidelined.

Abdelkader spent the latter half of the season with Zug in the National League, where he made 22 games and recorded ten goals as well as seven assists. For next season, the 34-year-old is yet to find a team.
