The 21-year-old, who is in possession of a Swiss players' license, left Switzerland at the end of last season after he did not receive a new contract offer from HC Ambrì-Piotta.

Chmel recently told Ticinonline in an interview that he would have "two interesting offers" on the table, one from his Czech youth team HC Stadion Litoměřice and another offer from a club in the French-speaking part of Switzerland.

Up to the end of last season, the youngster had been part of HC Ambrì-Piotta's organisation for six seasons. Last term, he appeared in a total of 20 games on loan with Swiss League's HCB Ticino Rockets, posting a save percentage of 0.899.
