In a statement, the KHL outlined their plan for the upcoming season. Twenty-three teams are set to participate, each playing 60 games. Though there are 53 players that have a positive Coronavirus-test, the league is determined to play and finish the regular season on 27th of February.

Due to concerns surrounding the coronavirus, some special rules have been implemented: should a team struggle with a high case total, their games may be delayed, or, if necessary, the junior team would be dressed instead. If a team does not abide by the health protocols, they might be punished with a forfeit defeat.

Due to the different case numbers in various regions, the number of allowed spectators will depend on where the game is played. Moscow teams may fill their stadium 50%, but teams in other parts of Russia might look at only 10% attendance.
