The 32-year-old, who almost ended up with SC Bern in 2016, will thus definitely not play in Switzerland next season. As La Liberté reported a month ago, the Canadian forward was on HC Fribourg-Gottéron's list, and, according to team manager Christian Dubé, also on the list of various other teams from the National League.

With the Rockford IceHogs, the AHL-affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks, Kris Versteeg has signed a one-year deal. This past season, he suited up for the KHL's Avangard Omsk (five points in eleven games) and the SHL's Växjö Lakers (17 points in 19 games).
