As the Tages-Anzeiger reports, Federal Councillor Alain Berset's draft for the new concept is far-reaching. According to the report, indoor events would be allowed with a 50% capacity. Masks will be mandatory, and every attendee must give their contact information for tracing.

This would put hockey clubs in a difficult position, as they already lose a large part of their capacity due to the ban on standing areas. Fifty percent of a hockey rinks seating capacity may, depending on the arena, only account for about a third of its overall capacity.

The National League previously stated that they aim for a 100% seating capacity. Director of the National League & Swiss League Denis Vaucher stated that the political process is still ongoing and was not willing to comment on the reported draft of the new concept. Cantons will have until Wednesday to give input on the concept before it will officially be approved by the federal council on September 2.
