According to TSN contributor Michael Farber, Team Canada will not take part in the 2021 edition of the Spengler Cup. Apparently, Claude Julien, who was supposed to coach the team at the tournament, has already returned to North America.

The recent Covid-19 outbreaks in the NHL, as well as the National League, have led to games being postponed. HC Ambrì-Piotta, who is also one of the participants of the tournament, might also not be able to take part because of several Covid-19 cases within the team. The organizing committee of the Spengler Cup will inform the public about the state of things this afternoon.
