For the past three seasons, the German international played in the NHL for the Chicago Blackhawks, the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Buffalo Sabres and, most recently, for the Edmonton Oilers. From the Oilers, however, he did not receive a qualifying offer and is thus free to leave.
Over his three years in the NHL, he appeared in a total of 188 games, in which he recorded 83 points (34 goals).
