Simon Graf of the Tages-Anzeiger has put together a list of candidates he thinks could be an option for the Lions.

Will also the Lions be led by a coach from one of the Nordic countries?

The newspaper speculates on the name of the possible successor of Arno Del Curto on the bench of the ZSC Lions and identifies Grönborg as an option. The 50-year-old, who is going to be replaced at the helm of the Swedish national team by Johan Garpenlöv, one of his current assistants, has been lately associated with Switzerland. In fact, he was spotted in February in Davos, where he observed Swedish players in the game between HC Davos and EV Zug. In an interview with Aftonbladet, however, Grönborg stated that "although I think that the National League is a good league and that Switzerland is beautiful, my goal is the NHL."

Grönborg began his coaching career in the USA and joined the Swedish federation in 2006. There he worked as a scout, then as coach of the U18 and the U20 and since 2016 as head coach of the national team.

The Tages-Anzeiger also adds the names of former Lions' head coaches Hans Kossman and Marc Crawford to the list. Kossman recently stated that he would be interest in a return to the Hallenstadion, while Crawford took over the job of interim head coach in Ottawa after Guy Boucher was fired. Whether he will stay with the Senators, however, is still an open question.

In any case, Sven Leuenberger, team manager of the Lions, reveals that he has not talked to a coach yet, since they first wanted to clarify whether they would continue with Arno Del Curto or not.
